Arc'teryx Climbing Academy
Please find below detailed information, which we hope you will find helpful. It covers event location, parking, Arc'teryx sample/test equipment, free talks and transport links.
Location Details: The event is being held out of the National Trust Sticklebarn in Great Langdale.
Address: Sticklebarn, B5343, Great Langdale, Ambleside LA22 9JU.
Website: Sticklebarn - National Trust
Google maps location: NT Sticklebarn location
Please note that it is a bank holiday weekend so be prepared for longer than usual travel times through the Lake District on your approach to Langdale.
Travelling to the venue: The Sticklebarn is located in the heart of the Great Langdale Valley about a 20min drive from Ambleside. There is also a train station in Windermere which services the London to Glasgow main line connecting people to the Lakes. Once in Windermere you can take a taxi through to the Sticklebarn in Langdale.
Car parking at the event: This year Arc'teryx have secured parking in the New Dungeon Ghyll hotel's overflow field which will be well signposted when you arrive at BC Sticklebarn and right next to the road for easy access. The parking will be strickly for those attending Arc'teryx clinics.
Public Transport: There is a rural 516 bus service which (albeit not very frequent) may be useful for the return journey or those arriving later in the day (the Sticklebarn is the stop before Dungeon Ghyll on this timetable): HERE
Mobile Reception: Langdale is a very rural location and once you get past Chapel Stile on your approach mobile signal starts to get very patchy and is very limited in the immediate area of Sticklebarn and where many of the clinics are happening. The Sticklebarn does have public WiFi, which on the whole works well. However if it is very busy then there are often many people using it which can make it slow or unusable. The best mantra for this is to assume you do not have phone signal while at the venue (and enjoy it!).
